Project Narrative
Emory University Health Sciences Research Building II (HSRB-II) in Atlanta, Georgia by HOK (opened 2023) is an 8-storey, 32,515 m² biomedical research facility certified LEED Gold. A full-height glass facade along the main atrium is supported by concealed trusses, while the north facade integrates a 5-storey living green wall and extensive balconies. A large skylight with automated shading precisely controls natural light and thermal performance in the shared research floors. A passive-first design achieves 5–10% energy reduction, and includes a microgrid, green roof, and rainwater capture.
