Project Narrative

The Allianz Headquarters in Wallisellen, Switzerland by Wiel Arets Architects (2013) is a 72,000 m² campus combining a 20-storey tower with a 5-storey annex, connected by bridges. The closed-cavity facade (CCF) incorporates computer-controlled aluminum curtain louvers and fritted glass that dynamically regulate solar gain and glare while maintaining transparency. The fritted glass pattern—inspired by onyx marble—creates a distinctive aesthetic while delivering precise thermal and daylight performance across the large mixed-use campus in the Richti district near Zurich.
