Describe the key innovation and technology aspects of the project

Project Narrative

633 Folsom (2022, Gensler) renovates a 1966 SoMa office block with a 5-story vertical expansion and 700 computationally-optimized GFRP sunshade hoods. Each hood's depth varies per orientation and floor, derived from solar overshadowing analysis, extending blinds-open hours by 300+/year and adding 690 ft² of daylit area. The 10,950 m² unitized glass curtain wall by Permasteelisa delivers a site EUI of 24.7 kBtu/ft²/yr. LEED Gold BD+C, WELL Core Silver. AIA Award of Excellence.
